Part 1: Research Labs

This is the first in a series on unifying the Realmer and Adventurer experience. If you missed our intro article , here you go!

Today, we’ll be talking about Research Labs and the role they play for Realmers and Adventurers. Before we do, let’s do a quick review of what being a Realmer and Adventurer means.

Realmer’s Purpose

Realmers are the owners of a Realm. Their main goal is to build up their Realm in order to:

Both $PARTICLE and $ANIMA are currently soulbound ERC20 tokens but there is a path for unbinding. If unbound, we will be looking to add them to MagicSwap.

Adventurer’s Purpose

Adventurers travel the Realmverse in search of their Origin Story. Through that process they:

  • Transcend into new Variants
  • Train to prepare for Battles and Missions
  • Capture $PARTICLE and $ANIMA from activities
  • Earn LootBoxes through activities(Battles, Missions, etc)
  • Gain Peripherals through LootBoxes and crafting

Adventurers are currently limited to Adventurers of the Void BUT Smols, Imbued Souls, Squires, Beacon’s Founding Characters and many more will join the ranks very soon.

Overview of Research Labs

Now that we understand the Realmer/Adventurer purpose, let’s take a look at Research Labs and how they can help them achieve these purposes.

Research Labs are structures built and added to a Realm. Above is an overview of the role Labs play. There are 3 types of players involved: Adventurers, Realmers and Stakers.

Let’s talk about Adventurers first 👇

Adventurers

Adventurers

We will be dedicating a whole article to the crafting system but for now, let’s focus on how crafting works in relation to Research Labs.

Read this article on LootBoxes and Peripherals for a better grasp of how they work.

Labs come in 7 Rarities from Common to Exotic. Each Lab provides the space for an Adventurer to craft a Peripheral that pertains to the Lab Rarity. Below are the cost and requirements when an Adventurer crafts a Peripheral:

Workshop I

  • Craftable Rarity: Common
  • Costs: TBD
  • Requirements: Any level AoV

Workshop II

  • Craftable Rarity: Rare
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 5 or higher

Lab I

  • Craftable Rarity: Epic
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 10 or higher

Lab II

  • Craftable Rarity: Legendary
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 15 or higher

Lab III

  • Craftable Rarity: Mythic
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 20 or higher

Alchemist I

  • Craftable Rarity: Exotic
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 25 or higher

Alchemist II

  • Craftable Rarity: Exotic+
  • Cost: TBD
  • Requirements: Level 30 or higher

These numbers will be adjusted before launch as we finalize gameplay.

Realmers

Realm Geo Features

Realmers are incentivized to build Research Labs using Tech Collectibles to increase a Realm’s Productivity and attract Stakers.

Productivity is a key factor in determining how much a Realmer is rewarded through emissions.

More on the role of Productivity in our article about Cities 😉

Adventurer Capacity

Realmers build and stake Labs to their Realm to allow Adventurers to craft. Once they craft, the Lab they use is burned.

Cost

The cost of paying homage decreases the more $PARTICLE staked by Stakers(See section about Stakers below).

TOTAL_PARTICLE_COST = COST * PERCENTAGE_DISCOUNT

PERCENTAGE_DISCOUNT ranges between 0% — 25%.

Stakers

Stakers

Anyone who owns $PARTICLE can be a Staker.

Don’t be fooled by the word staking. This is NOT a set it and forget it activity.

Stakers will need to watch market conditions to claim your rewards at optimal times. If they leave their rewards unclaimed for too long, marauders will come looking for it.

Stakers must be wise in choosing a Realm. Every Realm will offer different $PARTICLE Rewards. Let’s see how a Staker will determine what Realm to choose 👇

Questions to Ask Before Staking

Stakers need to ask themselves the following questions when choosing a Realm as they influence $PARTICLE Rewards earned:

  • Does it have enough Staking Capacity?
  • What $PARTICLE Rewards does it offer?

Staking Capacity

Staking capacity is based on a Realm’s total Knowledge. Knowledge is earned when a Lab is burned. Amount earned is based on the Lab type.

Capacity availability is first come, first serve so Stakers will want to make sure they grab the best space available. What makes space the best? $PARTICLE Reward 👇

$PARTICLE Rewards

Rewards are based on several factors:

  • Amount staked by Staker relative to circulating supply
  • Monthly $PARTICLE burned through Labs
  • Emission rate
  • Time of claim
  • Amount of Stakers in the Realm

We’ll be sharing exact calculations closer to launch.

Summary

Research Labs showcases the blueprint we’ll be using to unify our game loops. It’s exciting to begin the process of building on top of the foundation laid out over the past year.

These new game loops bring:

  • Crafting fueled by Realmers and Adventurers
  • Multifaceted strategy for $PARTICLE usage
  • Incentives for building

These strong economic game loops coupled with the strong belief of our community will allow us to onboard other projects that want to venture into the Realmverse with their existing NFTs in search of enticing Loot, amazing Art and community-driven Lore.
